Review of Chambal River

I couldn't post many photos from Chambal because of slow wifi. The river Chambal is broad, unpolluted and pristine. Gharial crocodiles sunbathe along the morning banks to warm up. Comb ducks keep their distance. A white bellied fish eagle glides above the far bank.

Bar headed geese fly higher than Mount Everest on migration over the Himalayas.

Red naped ibis

Squeeze in to the side please.  Camels carrying sand from the river.

Black bellied tern appeared in the mist. We were searching for Indian skimmers which had moved downstream after recent heavy rains had washed their sandbanks away. It was very foggy.

Crossed the river by pulling on the rope but only after the wood is unloaded.

Too bad it was misty but these skimmers are very rare and at least we saw them! It was worth the long trek..and besides I got a lift on a motorbike with two of the guides.

Long billed vultures.

This old soldier served under  British rule. He looks well for 87.
